Dining and café culture played a central role in the social life of artists, providing inspiration as well as sustenance. Join culinary historian Carolyn Tillie as she embarks on a delectable journey exploring this rich intersection of art and cuisine. After her talk, gather around the table for a tasting of three classic French wines along with a curated selection of Impressionist-era cheeses, pâte, savories, and sweets.

Surrealist Salvador Dalí illustrated a cookbook with outrageous and beautiful food presentation ideas, Pablo Picasso liked to cook for his friends, and gastronomic habits of the world's most famous occultist, Aleister Crowley, are legendary. Carolyn Tillie will delve into rituals of food, which create and sustain our worldviews.
Prospect Restaurant - Les Dames d'Escoffier and BACH Rummage Sale
Join members of Les Dames d'Escoffier and the Bay Area Culinary Historians in a first-ever kitchen- and food-themed rummage sale to include many historical items from Carolyn Tillie’s personal collection; some items dating back to the 1700s, signed modern and vintage cookbooks, and food-themed art.
Bay Area Culinary Historians Historic Meal
Enjoy this rare opportunity to dine at California’s historic Trader Vic’s restaurant where Carolyn has used an actual 1951 menu from her private collection and coordinated with the restaurant to recreate a meal with dishes that have not been served in more than seventy years. The evening will also include author George Geary, author of Made In California, as he presents background information on this restaurant which invented the Mai Tai cocktaill.

Bouverie Preserve
Organized by Carolyn for the Bay Area Culinary Historians, this approximately one-hour tour will take you through M.F.K. Fisher's modest home where she spent the last 21 years of her life. Learn about Fisher's time in the Sonoma Valley, experience her special brand of simple elegance, and soak in the views she enjoyed from every angle.
